Wednesday, Feb 3rd

Sauk Rapids-Rice High School (SRRHS)

Mentor: Maria Burnham

Date: Wednesday, Feb. 3rd

Time Worked: 7:30-3:30pm

Total: 64 hours

Today I spent time working on genrefying the fiction collection. We are making good progress, and I think we will have things done by early next week!
Today I shadowed Maria a bit more in regards to the troubleshooting she does with students and their school laptops. Each district has their quirks with devices, filters, networks, LMS etc. and I have my own tricks and "go-to's," but it was interesting to learn about what she has to troubleshoot on a daily basis. Some of the things she encounters I do not have experience with, like having to login to a portal to agree to the network terms or printing from their own devices. Maria also showed me their Google docs that she fills out when devices are damaged, or returned by the user. These were very helpful to see as I am sure many districts have something similar in regards to their 1:1 programs.
Today's Learning Lunch sessions were about Schoology. I was a Schoology Administrator at another district, so this was very familiar to me. Knowing this, Maria let me lead this session as well. I was able to cover setting up the grade book, grading groups, showing them how to unenroll a student, and embedding material into an assignment. These were very productive sessions, and the teachers left with a better understanding of these specific Schoology tools.
