Today we finally used the Snipping tool with 5th grade. It was interesting because some students were like "Yeah, no I'm fine with using the program." and then later they asked me "So, how do you use that Snipping tool thing?" Needless to say it really made the project easier for most students. That made the teachers happy too because they were at their wits end trying to get this all done. It felt good that my idea worked well for everyone!I also read to a few groups. Sara said that next week I can pick the books to read if I'd like. I think I'll choose poetry books for Poetry month!
I helped lead the 3rd grade group reading Golden Threaded Dress. Last time the received a bookmark type of activity that they could write down as they read things they liked, were confused about etc. This facilitated the group discussion quite well.
We also have a Kindergarten book group, and they are working on animal reports. It is interesting to work with such young students on Google Drive. They haven't learned how to type or that they can just click the cursor where they want - they just delete everything up to where they want to change something! I'm not sure how I feel about having them on Google Drive in Kindergarten and First grade. They don't have email, but it just takes so long because they can't type at all. So I'm not sure it is enhancing their learning process.
