Along with reading to the library groups and leading book groups today, I have also been cleaning up the Easy Reader (ER) books. They were entered in with odd call tags, so I'm standardizing them and shelving them appropriately. Some of them are arranged by character, so I'm finding pictures and taping them to the front of the bin/shelf. This is really helping students locate the ER books on their own.
We started a new book group for 5th grade today. They chose to read the book "A Week in the Woods" by Andrew Clements. It is a large group of 10 so Sara and I divided the group up. My group is pretty quiet but I know them from helping them with their online books, so that helped. Although they were quiet readers they did respond well to the discussion questions. Since I haven't read this book, I'm going to go online to see what I can find. There's a bit about the Hindenberg maybe we can research that a bit, or watch a video about it online.
I read to 2 K groups and 1 2nd grade group. Again, they enjoy the poetry book so it was fun. However, I do know what Sara means about reading the same book to all groups. This book fits all ages well, so I thought why not, but I don't think I'll do that again!

  1. I remember those days well. I did the same thing a few times with the 3,4,and 5th grades...sort of ruins a book for a while.
